Stargate SGP-1
Joshua Tree National Park, CA
This is the iconic Arch Rock shot at Joshua Tree that I wanted to be sure to capture, and the entire first evening was dedicated to this one photo. The Milky Way was visible to the naked eye that night. I got there four hours early to have a spot among 20-plus photographers on the new moon, and waiting for it to align perfectly was well worth it.
Photography is about so much more than the capture. It's the planning, the journey and the wonderful people you meet along the way that make this craft so fulfilling. I came by myself and left with several new friends.
